In reviewing the undergraduate graduation requirements listed in the catalog, it was determined that additional language needed to be included that specifies a residency requirement as it applies to the student's major. In addition, some existing language is being changed to maintain consistency throughout the policy.

The attached word document contains the existing policy in the catalog and proposed changes in red markup.

Below is the current policy from the catalog:

General requirements for graduation with a bachelor’s degree include:
1. Hour Requirements:
• A minimum of 120-semester hours of credit (except where specified higher).
• At least 36 semester hours must be junior-senior level courses (numbered 300-400).
• At least one-half of the minimum hour requirements for the major must be in junior-
senior level courses (numbered 300-400).
• At least 50% of the credit hours must be earned from UNA or other four year
institutions.
• At least 25% of the credit hours must be taken at UNA.
• Exceptions apply to RN to BSN or RN to MSN students.
• Exceptions to these policies must be compliant with accreditation standards and be
approved by the department chair for the major and the dean of the college awarding
the degree.
2. Minor Residency: A student whose major requires a minor, or if a student decides to
declare a minor at the University of North Alabama, must complete all required
coursework with a minimum of 6 hours of the minor coursework earned at the upper
level (300 and 400) at the University of North Alabama.
