For decades, the College of Business offered the Bachelor of Business Administration degree with majors in traditional business disciplines. Along the same lines, the Master of Business Administration has had concentrations that focused only on popular business fields. The College expanded several years ago when the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree program moved to the COB. In 2019, the College implemented the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree program. The computing programs are growing and are areas of focus within Alabama’s workforce development initiatives. In addition, the College has discussed the development of a graduate concentration in the MBA that fits in the cybersecurity and technology realm and the potential for a MS degree in a computing field. Faculty and administration will continue to monitor industry trends to expand academic programs and partnerships that will facilitate growth at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

With these exciting changes, the College of Business name does not fully capture the breadth of our degrees. The faculty were asked to submit potential names for consideration. After a college-wide unanimous vote, the College proposes the name change to College of Business and Technology.
