SACSCOC Credentials Guidelines:
1. Faculty teaching undergraduate general education and/or baccalaureate courses: Doctorate or Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or Master’s degree with a concentration in the discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
2. Faculty teaching graduate and post-baccalaureate course work: Earned Doctorate/ terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline (a minimum of 18 hours above the Master’s degree in the teaching discipline).

Although the Department of Mathematics has been using the ALEKS test for placement purposes internally, this proposal is to recognize the ALEKS Test as an official placement source for the General Education math requirement at UNA.
If this proposal is approved, the following steps will be implemented:
*The Department of Mathematics will confirm the appropriate test score grid for
placement purposes.
*Banner updates to build out ALEKS test codes so scores can become a part of the
student's academic records.
*Pre-requisite updates will be required for the Math Gen Ed courses to include the ALEKS
minimum score along with ACT/SAT.
*Catalog update to include ALEKS along side ACT and SAT for math placement purposes.
*Kenda Rusevlyan, Testing Coordinator for UNA, will coordinate with the Math Department to offer the ALEKS tests (since they are offered remotely), review the videos, and upload the test scores into SOATEST.
This proposal will go through multiple approval steps including COAD, Math Department Chair, CASE Curriculum Committee, CASE Dean, Admissions, Institutional Research/Data Governance, and UCC.
