The Office of International Affairs and the Academic English Program (AEP) are seeking approval for establishing an AEP Online Tuition Rate of $325 per online course. This online rate is roughly half of the current tuition rate of $620 per course, which was approved when courses were offered only on-campus.

Recruitment Appeal: The Office of International Affairs is actively recruiting students for AEP Online and advertises a cost of $350 per course. This price point is attractive to partners and students around the world and provides the opportunity to promote a marketable and competitive online language program to in order to reach OIA’s robust growth objectives.

Simplified Process: The net cost listed above is achieved by providing scholarship funds per course to reduce the students’ overall charges. The proposed AEP Online Tuition Rate, if approved, will eliminate the need to apply scholarships to online students, thereby making the matriculation process smoother for students and reducing work for university staff in the offices of International Affairs, Student Financial Aid and Student Accounts.

Consistency in Tuition Practices: The University of North Alabama currently offers an online rate for undergraduate and graduate courses. It covers the tuition charges (in-state tuition) and does not include the Non-Resident Fee (out-of-state tuition), making online tuition half of the cost of on-campus courses for non-residents. Offering an online rate for AEP Online courses continues the practice.
