SACSCOC Credentials Guidelines:
 
1. Faculty teaching undergraduate general education and/or baccalaureate courses: Doctorate or Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or Master’s degree with a concentration in the discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
 
2. Faculty teaching graduate and post-baccalaureate course work: Earned Doctorate/ terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline (a minimum of 18 hours above the Master’s degree in the teaching discipline).

Based on the concurrence of the UNA Criminal Justice Faculty after a review of the approved program of instruction for the Alabama Peace Officers Standards Commission (APOST) Basic Law Enforcement Academy training curriculum which can be found at
{https://www.apostc.alabama.gov/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/560hr-Curriculum-1-1-21.pdf }, we request approval of the award the following undergraduate credit for students who present a certified copy of their APOST certification, or a copy of other POST certification recognized by APOST as outlined in chapter 650X4.03 Waiver For Lateral Entry Equivalency Training in the APOST Administrative Code.

CJ 250 – Introduction to Criminal Justice (3 hours)
CJ 255 – Police Organization and Community Relations (3 hours)
CJ 295 – Criminal Law (3 hours)
CJ 485 – APOST Law Enforcement Preparation. (3 Credits)
CJ 485L – APOST Law Enforcement Preparation Lab. (1 Credit)

Total Credits - 13 hours

This credit would be awarded in accordance with the procedures for awarding credit from Non- Traditional Sources as outlined in the current UNA catalog and upon approval, the PJLP Department will submit a catalog addition to the Credit from Nontraditional Sources section outlining these procedures.
