In an effort to group degree programs and faculty with commonalities and potential synergies, and to affect some consolidation in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering (CASE), we propose the reorganization and merging of the Department of Chemistry and Occupational Health Science and the Department of Physics and Earth Science into the new Department of Chemistry and Physics. Dr. Brian Thompson will serve as the Department Chair.

This reorganization will group programs together that share common themes, work force development initiatives and potential, and related curricular initiatives.

Among the impacted departments, there is consensus to work together toward successful transitions. In fact, several of the alignments were requested by faculty. The new department names have been approved by the faculty in their respective areas and they have agreed upon the Department Chair designation.

The following action items will need to be implemented in order to facilitate this proposal:

*Create a new department code of CHPH - Chemistry and Physics.
*Update all appropriate existing courses with this new department code.
*Update all appropriate programs with this new department code.
*Create new catalog landing page of Chemistry and Physics and attach appropriate programs.
