SACSCOC Credentials Guidelines:
 
1. Faculty teaching undergraduate general education and/or baccalaureate courses: Doctorate or Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or Master’s degree with a concentration in the discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
 
2. Faculty teaching graduate and post-baccalaureate course work: Earned Doctorate/ terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline (a minimum of 18 hours above the Master’s degree in the teaching discipline).
ED 292: Preprofessional Seminar-Observation, participation, and orientation to the realities of the public school classroom. On-campus seminars supplemented by off-campus experience in public school classes. Available only to students with at least 30 hours.
ED 299: Human Growth & Development-Characteristics of and interrelationships among the physical, mental, social, and emotional aspects of human growth and development. Not applicable for credit toward a psychology major or minor.
ED 477: Curriculum/Teaching-This course develops student's ability to design, implement, and assess inquiry-based instruction through classroom and field-based learning experiences. Students will also locate and synthesize educational research to support their instructional decision-making. This class is intended to prepare students to teach in a secondary setting (6-12).
ED 582: Internship-Supervised observation and teaching in Grades 7-12 classes; the study and use of materials of instruction, and the use of teaching methods. International students must receive approval from the Office of International Affairs prior to course registration.
ED 584: Internship Grades P-12-Supervised observation and teaching in learning situations from the nursery school through the twelfth grade; the study and use of materials, and the use of appropriate teaching methods. International students must receive approval from the Office of International Affairs prior to course registration.
