SACSCOC Credentials Guidelines:
1. Faculty teaching undergraduate general education and/or baccalaureate courses: Doctorate or Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or Master’s degree with a concentration in the discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
2. Faculty teaching graduate and post-baccalaureate course work: Earned Doctorate/ terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline (a minimum of 18 hours above the Master’s degree in the teaching discipline).
ED 582-09 High School Internship: Supervised observation and teaching in Grades 7-12 classes; the study and use of materials of instruction, and the use of teaching methods.
ED 584-01 Multi-level Internship: Supervised observation and teaching in learning situations from the nursery school through the twelfth grade; the study and use of materials, and the use of appropriate teaching methods.

Ms. Pierson has extensive classroom experience in grades 7 – 12 and has been an educator since 1994. She has earned two Master’s Degrees and is a National Board Certified teacher.

During her time as an educator, she served as the Department Chair for the English Department for seven years and mentored new teachers for ten years. She also participated in committees throughout the Colbert County School District.
