UNA Early College Program
The UNA Early College program allows students to take college courses while still enrolled in high school, earning up to 30 credit hours.

Academic achieving high school students may enroll in the UNA Early College program if they receive permission from their high schools.

An official copy of the high school transcript must be sent by the high school directly to the UNA Office of Admissions. For application deadlines please refer to the Early College website. (https://www.una.edu/admissions/apply-to-una/early-college.html)

UNA Dual Credit Program
Dual enrollment refers to students taking college courses while still enrolled in high school, but only earning college credit for the course. Dual credit allows students to apply their college level work to both their high school curriculum and their college curriculum. In order to be eligible to earn dual credit, UNA must have an agreement with a student’s school district, private school, or home school association. The student’s high school of record is responsible for determining how credit is awarded and/or posted toward high school graduation. Students interested in pursuing dual credit are encouraged to contact the UNA Office of Admissions to determine if UNA has an agreement with their local educational agency.

Admissions to UNA Early College and/or Dual Credit Programs
High school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who rank above average in academic achievement and who meet the specified general aptitude and academic competency requirements as listed below may be granted admission to UNA for Early College and/or Dual Credit Programs. Admissions standards are based on the admissions criteria outlined by the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) guidelines for dual credit eligibility. These criteria apply to students who apply for the Early College and/or Dual Credit Programs.

Students must meet the following criteria:

• Students must satisfy the requirements prescribed in State Board of Education procedure 801.01: Admission: General, with the exception of proof of high school graduation or GED completion.
• Students must be in grade 10, 11, or 12. An exception may be granted by the Chancellor for students documented as gifted or talented in accordance with Alabama Administrative Code §290-8-9.12.
• Students seeking Dual Enrollment for Dual Credit coursework must have a minimum cumulative (unweighted) high school grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Students must have written approval of the appropriate principal or career or technical education program representative (if applicable) and counselor. Dual Enrollment for Dual Credit eligibility for students enrolled in private, home school/private tutor, parochial, or church/religious secondary educational entities must be documented in writing by an appropriate school official. Approval from secondary school officials indicates that the students has demonstrated both academic readiness and social maturity.

Students who meet the criteria for initial admission for a Dual Enrollment for Dual Credit program will maintain continuous eligibility so long as they earn a grade of C or better in all attempted college courses.
