Graduate Certificate in History Pedagogy
The Graduate Certificate in History Pedagogy is designed for individuals who hold an M.A.Ed., M.Ed. or an M.A. in a field other than history who are interested in teaching Dual Enrollment or Early College history courses. The certificate requires 18 hours of graduate credit in History. Students may choose from two tracks: US or non-US. All courses, required and elective, are 600-level graduate seminars. Students may transfer up to 6 hours of credit at the 600 level from another graduate program to the Graduate Certificate in History Pedagogy (with approval from department chair).
Students are required to submit an application to enroll in the certificate program. Applications are available through the Office of Graduate Admissions.
The Graduate History Pedagogy Certificate may be completed fully online.
Additional Admission Requirements:
- M.A., M.A.Ed. or M.Ed. degree in area of study other than history.
- Writing Sample: Minimum of four pages, preferably a research or scholarly essay or paper from previous classes. It may also be a sample of professional or creative writing.
- The name of three professional references.
- Transcripts from all colleges/universities attended during completion of B.A. or B.S. degree, as well as all graduate transcripts.
