Certificate in Geographic Information Systems

The Department of Geography offers a Certificate in Geographic Information Systems designed for professionals wishing to increase their job skills, geography majors wishing to have their skills recognized through a certification program, and students from other disciplines interested in broadening their knowledge of the use of Geographic Information Systems. Courses focus on the application of GIS technology to a variety of fields including biology, forestry, geology, city and regional planning, transportation planning, marketing and software development within the GIS industry. Admission requires current enrollment at UNA, a 4 year university degree, or 5 years’ experience in a related field and consultation with the Department Chair. The program is offered in conjunction with the Office of Continuing Education.
