Certificate in Music: Musical Theater

The Certificate in Music: Musical Theater is aligned with the Bachelor of Music in Performance (Music), Bachelor of Art (Theatre), Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts and Design), and Bachelor of Art/Science (Visual Arts and Design). The certificate program is designed in three tracks that address differing approaches to building competencies and preparedness for work in the Musical Theater art form. All three tracks include learning outcomes in the areas of acting, dance, theater design, vocal pedagogy and performance, and musical theatre history/literature. Differing course requirements in those areas for the three tracks reflect the synergy of certificate curricula with that of the students’ major degree programs.

Admission Requirements:

Actor Track - students must successfully complete an entrance audition and be accepted for enrollment in a Theater program.

Vocalist Track - students must successfully complete an entrance audition and be accepted for enrollment in a Music degree program.

Artist Track - students must be enrolled as a major in one of the following degree programs within the School of the Arts: Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts and Design), and Bachelor of Art/Science (Visual Arts and Design).
