Department of Counselor Education
The Department of Counselor Education offers master’s degree programs for students who have completed bachelor’s degrees and are preparing themselves for employment as school or clinical mental health counselors. The programs in the Department of Counselor Education are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs(CACREP).The School Counseling Program prepares students to serve effectively as elementary and secondary school counselors and meets the requirements for School Counselor certification/licensure in Alabama and/or other states. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program qualifies students for a variety of counseling positions in mental health and agency settings and meets the coursework requirements for Licensed Professional Counselor status in Alabama.
