Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)
The Department of English offers a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). This certificate is offered to both degree seeking students as well as community persons intending to work with speakers of other languages both in the United States and abroad. This certificate DOES NOT constitute K-12 licensure in Alabama. Non-degree seeking students will be admitted to the University via established admissions guidelines. The certificate is designed to provide a broad knowledge of the structures of the English language and the basic methodology of ESL instruction.
