Detailed study of the characteristics of and interrelationships of the physical, mental, social and emotional aspects of human growth and development. This course is an in-depth study of the process of human development across the life span. This course is designed to introduce the history, principles, philosophy, laws pertaining to and best practices of teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). Additionally, it is designed to create an awareness and appreciation of the challenges and rewards inherent in working with limited English proficiency students and parents in schools and in the community. This course examines the best practices of teaching and assessing ESL/LEP students and allows opportunities to apply this knowledge. This course will also review and evaluate current ESL instructional materials and examine and apply ways to modify and adapt content materials to better serve students who have limited English proficiency.
