SA - Study Abroad (SA)

SA 494. Education Abroad. (12-20 Credits)

Students planning to pursue a course of study outside the United States at an institution with a standing arrangement with the University of North Alabama may enroll in sections of SA 494 for a combined total not to exceed 20 credit hours. SA 494 is a temporary course registration designation. Upon the student's return to UNA and receipt of all documentation from the partner institution, courses taken abroad will be matched with equivalent UNA courses for the assignment of credit. Returning students will receive general elective credit only for courses suitable for university credit but without an equivalent UNA course. (Fall, Spring, Summer)

SA 495. Non-Credit Bearing Education Abroad. (0 Credits)

Non-Credit Bearing Education Abroad (NCBEA) is a short-term (5 to 20 days) abroad program associated to a UNA unit, department, club, or team. Students who complete this learning experience abroad may enroll under this non-credit-bearing rubric in order to have their education abroad experience recorded on their transcript. This course may be repeated to reflect additional education abroad experiences. Approval from the student's faculty advisor is required for registration. (Fall, Spring, Summer)

SA 496. Faculty-led Education Abroad. (0 Credits)

Faculty-led Education Abroad (FLEA) is a short-term abroad program associated to a regular UNA course, led by a UNA faculty member. FLEA provides an opportunity for UNA students to spend ten days to six weeks abroad as an extension to their normal UNA course. Students who complete this learning experience abroad may enroll under this non-credit-bearing rubric in order to have their education abroad experience recorded on their transcript. In addition to this rubric indication of the education abroad experience, each course taken abroad will be annotated on the transcript. This course may be repeated to reflect additional education abroad experiences. Approval from the student's faculty advisor is required for registration. (Fall, Spring, Summer)

SA 497. Bilateral Exchange Education Abroad. (0 Credits)

The Bilateral Exchange Program (BEP) offers education abroad options for students who have demonstrated outstanding academic success at UNA and expressed an interested in expanding their education beyond the University of North Alabama. BEP has a consortium of 12 accredited institution of higher education in 6 different countries. BEP provides an opportunity for UNA students to spend a semester, or year abroad in another country while receiving UNA credits towards graduation. This program allows students to be fully immersed in their host country culture. Students who complete this learning experience abroad may enroll under this non-credit-bearing rubric in order to have their education abroad experience recorded on their transcript. In addition to this rubric indication of the education abroad experience, each course taken abroad will be annotated on the transcript. This course may be repeated to reflect additional education abroad experiences. Approval from the student's faculty advisor is required for registration. (Fall, Spring)

SA 498. International Business Program. (0 Credits)

The International Business Program (IBP) is made possible by UNA’s membership with the Magellan Exchange Program and offers education abroad options for College of Business undergraduates. IBP has a consortium of over 30 accredited institution of higher education in over 15 different countries. Magellan Exchange provides an opportunity for UNA business students to spend a semester or academic year in another country while receiving UNA credits towards graduation. This program allows students to be fully immersed in their host country culture. The common language of instruction among schools is English, however language courses are also an option for students who wish to enhance their foreign language proficiency. Students who complete this learning experience abroad may enroll under this non-credit-bearing rubric in order to have their education abroad experience recorded on their transcript. In addition to this rubric indication of the education abroad experience, each course taken abroad will be annotated on the transcript. This course may be repeated to reflect additional education abroad experiences. Approval from the student's faculty advisor is required for registration. (Fall, Spring, Summer).

SA 499. ISEP Education Abroad. (0 Credits)

The International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) offers education abroad options for all UNA undergraduates. ISEP has a consortium of over 150 accredited institution of higher education in over 50 different countries. ISEP provides an opportunity for UNA students to spend a short-term summer, semester, or year-long abroad in another country while receiving UNA credits towards graduation. This program allows students to be fully immersed in their host country culture. The common language of instruction among schools is English, however language courses are also an option for students who wish to enhance their foreign language proficiency. Students who complete this learning experience abroad may enroll under this non-credit-bearing rubric in order to have their education abroad experience recorded on their transcript. In addition to this rubric indication of the education abroad experience, each course taken abroad will be annotated on the transcript.
