ASL - American Sign Language (ASL)

ASL 1XX. Am Sign Lang Elective. (1-3 Credits)
ASL 101. Introductory American Sign Language. (3 Credits)
Intensive study of American Sign Language, including vocabulary, grammatical style, and techniques for communication and interpretation. Students will also gain a familiarity with cross-cultural information and interaction with the deaf community.(Offered on sufficient demand).

ASL 102. Introductory American Sign Language. (3 Credits)
A continuation of American Sign Language 101. Prerequisite: ASL 101 or equivalent. (Offered on sufficient demand).

ASL 201. Intermediate American Sign Language Part One. (3 Credits)
An intensive study of American Sign Language at the intermediate level using a Functional Notional Approach, which introduces vocabulary and grammar through meaningful interaction and activities. ASL 201 builds upon the basic communication skills acquired in ASL 101 and 102 and strengthens students ability to understand and interact with the deaf community. Prerequisite: ASL 102. (Fall)

ASL 202. Intermediate American Sign Language Part Two. (3 Credits)
A continuation of ASL 201, this course is an intensive study of American Sign Language at the intermediate level using a Functional Notional Approach, which introduces vocabulary and grammar through meaningful interaction and activities. ASL 202 builds upon the basic communication skills acquired in ASL 101 and 102 and strengthens students ability to understand and interact with the deaf community. Prerequisite: ASL 201. (Spring)
